9. Board Prepartion

a) Required both years

b) Faculty: Matthew Nguyen, M.D.

c) Review and prepare fellows/trainees for taking thier written and oral Child Psychiatry Boards

d) This conference is open to all staff and trainees.

e) 2 hours monthly during both years.

f) Goal and objectives: To focus on improving global conceptualization and formulation of patient psychopathology.

Knowledge:

  1. Review new pediatric psychopharmacology studies
  2. Practice formulation of the biopsychosocial model of description of psychopathology with an emphasis on clinical interviewing skills and assessment techniques with non-verbal information.
  3. Review Child PRITE exams aimed at understanding test taking techniques and strategies as well as reviewing concepts covered within these exams.

Attitudes:

  1. Commitment to increasing his/her knowledge in psychopharmacology, as evidenced by regular attendance, consistent preparation, and active participation in the discussions.
  2. Awareness of the limitations of exisiting evidence base supporting the medication treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders.
