1. Journal Club
a) Required both years.
b) Faculty: Elias Sarkis, M.D., and Ayesha Lall, MD.
c) A recent significant article from a scientific journal is reviewed and discussed.
d) This conference is open to all staff and trainees
- 1 hour per month for 2 years.
f) Goal and objectives: To expand the fund of knowledge based on relevant scientific literature and to develop skills in critical reading of such literature.
Knowledge:
- Review new studies addressing various areas, including etiology, assessment and treatment.
- Research methods, including hypothesis development, design, statistics and ethics.
Skills:
- Conduct critical assessment of literature
Attitudes:
- Commitment to increasing his/her knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry, as evidenced by regular attendance, consistent preparation, and active participation in the discussions.
- Awareness of the limitations of existing evidence-base supporting the assessment and treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders
- Dedication to life-long critical review of the scientific literature in child and adolescent psychiatry
