5. Child and Adolescent Treatment Modalities:

a) Required both years

b) Faculty: Various Faculty

c) Different treatment modalities used to treat children and adolescents with different psychopathologies are taught. Psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, and psychopharmacological forms of treatment are studied in considerable detail. Several seminars on consultation to schools, department of Pediatrics and community systems of care are also provided in this series. Specific modules on CBT are taught by clinical psychologists as part of the treatment modalities seminar.

d) Other disciplines may attend with permission

e) 1 hour weekly for 2 years.

f) Goal and objectives: The resident will gain knowledge of the various treatment modalities used for child and adolescent psychiatric disorders and of the evidence base supporting their use.

  1. Awareness of the limitations of existing evidence-base supporting the treatment of childhood psychiatric disorders

  4. Respect for the contributions of professionals from multiple disciplines
