Seminars and Conferences
Seminars and Conferences
Formal instruction such as lectures including prepared lectures, seminars and reading assignments make up an integral part of our residency training experience. The clinical case conferences, journal clubs and grand rounds are important adjuncts to our organized and thoughtfully integrated curriculum. Through such didactic sessions, residents gain a well-balanced and in-depth understanding of basic biological, psychological, and clinical sciences relevant to child psychiatry, including a thorough knowledge of developmental psychology, psychodynamic theory, and a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of child and adolescent psychopathology. One half day per week is set aside for seminars and conferences for both 1st and 2nd year residents in child and adolescent psychiatry. The goal is to cover all possible phases of child development psychopathology and treatment in a developmental sequence from conception to young adulthood. A resident can come into the program at any point in the cycle and complete the sequence two years later. These meetings are mandatory for all residents in the program. Here is the outline of didactic curriculum for child and adolescent psychiatry residents at University of Florida.
