SUBJECT: Counseling and Support Services

Where to get help - The Housestaff Pocket Guide includes nearly two dozen phone numbers of various references for housestaff who need support. This includes family counseling, individual counseling, group support rehabilitation, drug and alcohol abuse assistance, etc. The physician may also call the Housestaff Affairs Office for further information and referral.

Residents who feel the need for counseling should discuss this with the appropriate faculty member (advisor), the program director or, if they wish to remain anonymous to the program, the Office of Housestaff Affairs. Confidentiality will be preserved and is of the highest priority. Referrals through the Office of Housestaff Affairs can be made to individuals within the University and outside the University. In addition the Housestaff member may contact sources of assistance as listed in the Housestaff Pocket Guide.
