In 1998 the administrative and research divisions of the Department of Psychiatry moved into the McKnight Brain Institute (MBI) at the University of Florida, which encompasses over 200,000 gross square feet and provides a wealth of laboratory, office and teaching space for MBI faculty, staff and students. Clinical services are located in Shands Health Science Center at the University of Florida, Shands at Vista, Shands Medical Plaza, and the Gainesville Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Directions
Directions from I-75 to Shands Medical Plaza
Exit #384 (Archer Road) and head east on Archer Road. If you are coming from the north then you will make a left onto Archer Road to go east. If you are traveling from the south you will make a right onto Archer Road to go east. Once you are on Archer Road travel approximately 2.5 miles until you reach Gale Lemerand Drive. Make a left and then make a right at the sign that says Shands Medical Plaza. You can go straight ahead and park at the parking garage for $3.00 or you can use the Medical Plaza valet service for $5.00.

Directions from Gainesville Airport to Shands Medical Plaza
Exit the airport road and turn right (West) onto SR 26 (also 39th Ave.). Continue west until you get to US 441 (N.W. 13th St.), turn left (South).
Continue South on US 441 crossing University Ave., past the University on your right, and continuing until you see a pedestrian overpass ahead of you. At the red light just before the overpass (used to be a railroad trestle and is now pedestrian walkway) take the curve to the right onto Archer Road. Do not go under the overpass.
Continue on Archer Road until you reach Gale Lemerand Drive. Make a right and then make a right at the sign that says Shands Medical Plaza. You can go straight ahead and park at the parking garage for $3.00 or you can use the Medical Plaza valet service for $5.00.

Directions from Jacksonville airport to Shands Medical Plaza
"Easy Way"
Approximately 2.5 hours to UF
Take I-95 South, toward Jacksonville, to I-295. Exit onto I-10 (Note: If you miss the I-295 exit, follow I-95 to where it intersects with I-10). Take I-10 West (towards Tallahassee) to I-75. Take I-75 to exit #384 (Archer Road) and head east on Archer Road. If you are coming from the north then you will make a left onto Archer Road to go east. If you are traveling from the south you will make a right onto Archer Road to go east. Once you are on Archer Road travel approximately 2.5 miles until you reach Gale Lemerand Drive. Make a left and then make a right at the sign that says Shands Medical Plaza. "Short Route"
Approximately 2 hours to UF
Take I-10 only as far as US 301 (it will be one of the early exits) at Baldwin. Head south on 301 to Waldo. CAUTION: Beware of speed traps along 301, especially in Lawtey, Starke, Hampton, and Waldo. At Waldo, take a right onto SR 24 to Gainesville (has big sign for Gainesville). Follow SR 24 to 39th Avenue/SR 222, just past the airport. Turn right (West) onto 39th Avenue (also SR 26) heading west. Continue west until you get to US 441 (N.W. 13th St.), turn left (South). Follow the directional signs to the Florida Turnpike. Stay on the turnpike until it merges with I-75. Take I-75 to exit 384 and head east on Archer Road. If you are coming from the north then you will make a left onto Archer Road to go east. If you are traveling from the south you will make a right onto Archer Road to go east.
