Dr. Gold is a Distinguished Professor at the McKnight Brain Institute in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. He is Vice Chair for Education, an Exemplary Teacher of the University, and the Chief of the Division of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Gold is a teacher, researcher, and inventor who has worked for over 30 years to develop models for understanding the effects of tobacco and other drugs on the brain and behavior and developed new treatments for addicts. He is the mentor of many of the nations current leaders in tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, eating disorders, and addiction education and research. He is a Distinguished alumni and an Honors graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine where he was an AOA and Faculty Research Award winner. Dr. Gold currently serves on the UF College of Medicine, Alumni Board, Admissions Committee, and Curriculum Committee. Dr. Gold actively teaches basic science as well as clinical and motivational interviewing, and the clinical evaluation and treatment of eating disorders. Dr. Gold also serves as a research mentor for junior faculty, MD/PhD, and PhD students. Dr. Gold is actively involved at both the state and federal levels as a consultant and lecturer.
