Dr. Richard Alden Greer has specialized in forensic psychiatry for the last 19 years, following his famous father, Dr. Melvin Greer (Chair, Department of Neurology at UF) in his medical legal work. He is a graduate of Harvard University (magna cum laude) and board certified (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology-Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Addictions and Forensics) and served as Chief of Forensic Psychiatry from 1996-2002. Dr. Greer has served as an expert in cases nation-wide, specializing in civil cases, having been engaged numerous times in medical malpractice issues, traumatic brain injury evaluations, alcohol and drug related matters, geriatric issues (e.g. testamentary capacity and vulnerable adults), and evaluations of emotional injury.
Dr. Greer has added expertise and research in the field of neurology. He is also certified in psychological testing and employs the latest techniques from both the neurological and psychological sciences in his forensic practice.
He has spent the last three years as Medical Director, Halifax Behaviorial Services, Daytona Beach, the largest provider of psychiatric services to children and adolescents in the state. He has served as an expert and advocate for children in custody evaluations, diagnostic issues and school prevention of harm cases.
