Ms. Hill graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Florida State University in 1979. She worked in Oncology and Psychiatry at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for three years prior to entering graduate school at the University of Florida College of Nursing. She completed her Master's degree in in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing 1984 and is licensed as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Psychiatry. Ms Hill joined the Department of Psychiatry in 1984 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and then joined the faculty as an Associate in Psychiatry in 1990. She served as the Administrative Assistant to the Child Psychiatry Divison Chief from 1985 to 1999, directed daily operations on the Children's Mental Health Unit, served as Director of the ADHD clinic, served on the Child Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison service to Pediatrics for 15 years, served as a therapist on the Adolescent Inpatient Unit, and provided clinical evaluation and treatment services in the Child And Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. Ms Hill has also served as the Medical student coordinator for their outpatient clinic rotation. Ms. Hill has also served as the research coordinator for two pharmaceutical-sponsored multi-center inpatient clinical trials; involving the use of Depakote in the treatment of patients with Bipolar Disorder and the treatment of memory loss in patients receiving Electro-Convulsive Therapy. She has also served on the Department of Psychiatry Institutional Site Review Committee for the Department of Children and Families, and conducted site visits at DCF facilities. In addition Ms. Hill lectures and provides clinical supervision in both the General Psychiatry Residency and Child Psychiatry Fellowship programs. She serves as a Consultant to the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities located at the University of Florida and as such, regularly consults with school districts and provides community trainings on Autism and related issues. Ms Hill also holds courtesy faculty appointment in the college of nursing as an affiliate Associate in Nursing. She serves as preceptor for Graduate students in Nursing and has lectured in their program.
Ms. Hill's clinical interests have focused on treating children with Autism and related developmental disabilities She has previously served as director of the ADHD clinic. Other clinical interests include: alternative medicine and eating disorders.
Research and Scholarly Interests:
Ms. Hill's research interests have included: Autism, Medical Ethics, Parent-training, and Alternative Medicine. She has served as the research coordinator for two inpatient pharmaceutical-sponsored multi-center placebo-controlled clinical trials: Depakote in the treatment of patients with Bipolar Disorder and Pramacetam in the treatment of patients receiving ECT.
Educational Interests and Accomplishments:
Ms. Hill has developed and presented didactic seminars to the psychiatric residents on a variety of topics including: alternative medical modalities, family therapy, non-directive play therapy, Neuroleptic-Induced Movement disorders, and Autism. She has also been involved in teaching Pediatric residents about Autism during the course of their Developmental Pediatric rotation on the Children's Mental Health Unit. She supervises General Residents and Child Psychiatry Fellows in the Outpatient Child Psychiatry ADHD Clinic.
Ms. Hill is a member of the American Nurse's Association and Florida Nurse's Association.
