AADPRT Ginsberg Fellowship

The American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT) has just announced that one of our residents, Dr. Christopher Wadsworth, has been selected as a George Ginsberg-AADPRT Fellow for 2009.  This is a major, national award!  This fellowship acknowledges the excellence and the accomplishments of outstanding residents interested in education and teaching.  One of the perks of this award is that Chris will be attending the AADPRT Annual Meeting in Tucson, AZ this March (all expenses paid) where he will participate in educational sessions and workshops as well as receive his award.  He will also be given other opportunities in the future to continue to develop his interest in teaching and education or subspecialty residency.  In order to be selected for this fellowship, Chris was  nominated by Dr. Ware and also had to submit a letter outlining his interest in education and the reason for applying , his CV, a sample of his teaching materials, and two faculty letters of recommendation.  Chris has been active in teaching in Dr. Gold and Merlo’s undergraduate courses, serving as the course coordinator and instructor for the ever-popular undergraduate course “The Disease of Eating.”  He has also been a small group leader for Human Behavior and Essentials of Patient Care.  Chris has been rated by UF medical students as one of the top teaching residents for our department.  According to the AADPRT, the competition was very high this year, so Chris obviously was a standout.  We are very proud of Chris.  Those who have worked with him know why he received this award.  In his essay for the fellowship application, Chris talks about how he keeps a USB storage device with him that is filled with lectures he has given and how he can just pull this out and give impromptu lectures to students when they have questions.  Now that’s an educator!  Please join us in offering congratulations to Chris  We are all very proud that Chris is only 1 of 7 residents chosen in the entire country for this prestigious award but also for all the things that he does to help our COM, program, and Community !
