Inpatient Services Gainesville VA Medical Center of the No. Florida/So. Georgia VA Health System
Programs are also in place with the University of Florida for dentistry, nursing, physical therapy, health services administration, and pharmacy. Other affiliations are in place with Florida State University, Valdosta State University, Santa Fe Community College, and Lake City Community College for programs in nursing, social work, physical therapy, medical technology, and health care administration. Through sharing agreements, there is collaboration in the areas of radiation therapy, professional radiology services, sleep lab, electron microscopy, and cardiac catheterization. For more information about Gainesville VA Medical Center, please call 352-376-1611. VA Inpatient Psychiatry This service consists of 38 inpatient beds which are divided among four clinical teams. One team is dedicated to Psychotic Disorders, another to substance abuse and the remaining two to general psychiatry. Clinical teams consist of an attending physician, who is a full-time member of the Department of Psychiatry, a resident, medical students, nurses, a case manager and consultants from psychology, social work, dietetics, occupational therapy, rehabilitation and trainees from other disciplines. The Residential unit services are primarily for evaluation and short-term management of individuals with acute psychiatric problems.
