William M. Greene, M.D. Assistant Professor
Dr. Greene graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor's degree in biology. He completed medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa and completed his residency in general psychiatry with a focus on Addiction Medicine at the University of Florida. In 2007, Dr. Greene joined faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Division of Addiction Medicine. He currently serves as an Attending Physician of our 23 bed drug and alcohol detoxification unit at Shands @ Vista. Clinical InterestsDr. Greene's primary interest is in the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. In addition, he has a keen interest in treating the various psychiatric disorders which commonly co-occur with addiction, such as mood disorders and anxiety disorders. Also, Dr. Greene is interested in the evaluation and treatment of impaired healthcare professionals through Professional Resource Network (PRN) and Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN). Educational Interests and AccomplishmentsDr. Greene is quite active in resident and medical student education; giving lectures at various levels of training. He leads small groups of medical students in their Human Behavior and Essentials of Patient Care courses. Additionally, his clinical service is one of a select few in the country where medical students are required to rotate through an addiction medicine service. He is also responsible for training of residents and addiction medicine fellows on his service. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident, and also was honored with the John M.
